+ Wohngebäude Luckenwalderstraße

The aim of the Luckenwalder Straße project was to develop an extremely rational and inexpensive building with a high proportion of common spaces, which at the same time offers a high degree of flexibility of the plan that can be realised on each floor. This could be achieved with an extremely compact core, that nevertheless satisfies all fire protection regulations, and a simple column grid. The supply shafts are located in the same place for all floor plan variants, so that the combination of different floor plans is also conceivable without additional effort. Since the building structure has two axes of symmetry, even mixed floor plans can be realised.

The all-round balconies with floor-to-ceiling glazing offer several advantages: Fire flashover is prevented, the existing floor space is optimally utilised and inside they create a generous feeling of space with a wide view of the Wuhletal valley. At the same time, they open up the building's façade in all directions, and through their subsequent use allow for a vivacity and playfulness that interweaves the building with its surroundings despite its rational form.
