+ House in Faqra

The project is situated in the Lebanese mountains. The site itself is extremely steep, with slopes in multiple directions. It is filled with beautiful, but sharp rocks. The client wanted to build a holiday house for his family. His family is composed of three generations that want to live together in four separate units.

Our proposal was to build two independent volumes of similar size and proportions that are connected with a big underground garage and storage spaces. They sit on different heights in the landscape and are connected by terraced gardens. They are individually rotated to each grasp the best views. Their internal organization is adjusted accordingly, with two units in each volume.

Each unit can be accessed directly through the garage. However, the pedestrian approach allows a full exploration of the project: A long staircase leading up along the rocks, overlapped by parts of the first unit and passing the intimate and enclosed courtyard between the two volumes before reaching the second volume and offering an exceptional view into the landscape.
